PDL Ensures Long-Term Excellence with Three-Week Maintenance Shutdown

At Papeteries du Léman (PDL), delivering consistent quality is not just about what happens on the production floor—it’s also about knowing when to pause, assess, and renew. Last week, PDL began a planned three-week maintenance shutdown, a crucial step in preserving the high standards our customers expect.
Rather than viewing this as downtime, we see it as an investment in the future. For an industrial paper manufacturer, proactive maintenance is essential. It safeguards the reliability of our equipment, extends the lifespan of our production assets, and ensures that every reel of paper meets the same uncompromising quality we’re known for.
This shutdown is a major operation. More than 40 specialized teams from outside companies have joined our own staff to carry out targeted work across our facilities. From machinery upgrades to critical safety inspections, every task is carefully planned to keep our production at peak efficiency for years to come.
Safety is our top priority. With so many teams on site, strict protocols are in place, including fire permits, confined space procedures, and controlled worksite access. Every measure is taken to protect both the people involved and the equipment they service.
For our clients, this commitment translates into lasting benefits: fewer unplanned interruptions, consistently high-quality paper, and the confidence that every order will be fulfilled with the same precision and reliability. For our teams, it’s an opportunity to work alongside expert partners, share knowledge, and return to production with renewed energy and upgraded tools.
“At PDL, we see maintenance not as a cost, but as a commitment—to our customers, to our people, and to the quality that defines us,” said Stéphane, Barbereau, PDL’s General Manager. “This shutdown ensures that our production will remain strong, efficient, and ready to meet the demands of tomorrow.”
When production resumes, we’ll be operating with optimized equipment, enhanced safety, and reinforced confidence—ready to continue shaping the specialty papers that inspire trust worldwide.
