Primabake Adds BPI Certification, Reinforcing Its Position as a Global Leader in Compostable Baking Paper

Another trusted certification. One step closer to a waste-free kitchen.
Primabake, a pioneer in high-performance, eco-responsible baking papers, has officially received certification from the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI)—one of the most respected compostability standards in North America.
This latest recognition places Primabake in a class of its own: now certified by multiple international authorities including BPI, TÜV AUSTRIA (OK Compost HOME and INDUSTRIAL), and others, the brand offers one of the most comprehensively certified baking papers available today.
For industrials, bakeries, and eco-conscious brands, this news brings added clarity: with Primabake, environmental claims aren’t marketing—they’re verified.
“Certification from BPI gives our North American clients the local assurance they need,” said Patrick Sombret, Primabake Product Manager at PDL. “It’s a rigorous benchmark, and it reflects our drive to meet—and exceed—global expectations for compostable food-contact materials.”
The BPI certification confirms that PDL’s baking paper, Primabake, is safely compostable in professionally managed composting environments, without releasing harmful residues. Just as important, Primabake papers are also recyclable, offering end users multiple responsible end-of-life options—composting or recycling, depending on local regulations and how the paper is used. For the food industry, this offers an alternative that highly performs in the kitchen and still answer to a responsible life cycle.
From commercial bakeries to consumer kitchens, Primabake continues to make strides toward a circular economy—developing papers that not only perform exceptionally, but also fit into responsible waste systems across different geographies.
“We see certifications not as badges, but as bridges—to trust, to markets, to real environmental impact,” added Sombret. “Our ambition is simple: to create baking paper that belongs in the future.”
With the addition of BPI to its certification portfolio, Primabake strengthens its role as a dependable partner for food professionals worldwide—blending performance, safety, and sustainability into every sheet.
